Connecting advice to art (adviart).

Check for understanding.

Check for understanding. This adviarter picked the shell because of its surface. The surface was practical to be able to draw a picture to explain the need to check for understanding. Note that the colors contrast on the shell–the square blue on the right and the red Gypsy Tornado on the left. The perspective of the drawing highlights the importance of knowing the context of a conversation and more importantly, how to check for understanding between shapes of a distinctively different nature.

This adviart is all about perspective. Checking for understanding allows one to ensure that the full points are being digested by others. By realizing the shapes of others around us, we can be more effective in getting our point across. This adviart made me think about how to slow down the pace to be able to ensure understanding–simple, simple, simple is the way to go.

So how can we train ourselves to check for understanding? What can we place in terms of structure around the words we convey and how we convey them?
